Sulla:
Lay off Ray-Ray! He's killed one man in his whole life.
Only one little murder, huh? Is that an NFL record?
Sweet little Ray-Ray. May his eyes cross and his feet stumble on game day.

i feel cheated that never, not once, as a dub or as a ex-dub, did i experience the presence, manifestation, or just-things-flying-around, of demons.
not so much as a teacup levitating from its saucer.
no inexplicable cold spots.
Good night, Shelby. Peace to you.
Sigh.
The reason I can't stand the Ravens -- Ray Lewis. His blubbering during the anthem made me gag. That guy should have been watching the game from the TV room in prison.
If he retires this year, I hope he jogs out of the SuperBowl after a howling defeat. And may they find that white suit some day soon.
i am a fader and through the years i've known and spoken to jw's who live their entire life around the religion.
they live as though they speak with jesus himself!
what really got to me was the other day me and my wife had to stop by some elder's house and it was a saturday night.
They function with visions of promised glory dancing before them.

yes, if you don't follow there countless rules.
"Re: Does Death End It ALL?"
I really hope so. As an aging baby-boomer with the inevitable attendance of increased aches, pains, illness, and just general BS that repeats itself over and over, I look forward to a long, restful dirt-nap when the time comes.

Parakeet:
Do you mean I'm not "clean" enough to have a demon in my house?
Aguest: Your paraphrasing is inaccurate, dear ROP (again, peace to you!) and mistates what I meant... and stated. Why would you do that? I mean, I get that you are trying to be humorous but do you not understand HOW it is that some are misled? Via attempts at humor and paraphrasing and stating one's own opinions as to these things... rather than what is TRUE? While misleading others may not be the intent, it is VERY often the result. Which is why I stick to the truth ....
So not only am I not "clean" enough for demons, I'm not truthful enough either? I understand you're speaking from a position of absolute belief, but come on, Shelby.
You're arguing that if demons show up, you're vindicated. And if demons don't show up, you're still vindicated, because I'm either too flippant or not worthy enough. Your reasoning smacks of WTS-like thinking. If dubs are not persecuted, their evangelistic work is being rewarded by God. If they are persecuted, it's proof that God is allowing their faith to be tested. They refuse to consider any other reasonable explanations.
Either there are demons or there are not. Anything other than first-hand experience will not convince me they exist.
Parakeet.
(Day 3 will commence at midnight EST. Here, little demons. Come prove that Shelby's beliefs are true. If you show up, I'll maked devilled ham sandwiches for you. )

Aguest:
Also, you cannot "contract" a demon simply by inviting one. Although your mouth may say "come," your heart/mind/spirit may not be (as) open as you think.... their hearts/minds/spirit don't permit it - such are not "prepared"... meaning, clean enough... for such to occur. One must first cleanse the INSIDE of the cup - of hatred, hypocrisies, jealousies, envies, murders, adulteries... what have you).
Do you mean I'm not "clean" enough to have a demon in my house?
Thanks a lot, Shelby.
from my local paper in the religious section.. christians are taught to trust god in all things.
trust.
is, at best, difficult and at wost, impossible without knowing.
Why study the Bible? Except for historians and archaeologists, there's not a single good reason I can think of.

20yearfader,
I often burn incense; love the aroma, but I've never had anything "strange" happen. Did you buy your incense at a yard sale? The dubs say that's a sure-fire way to bring demons into your home. Not working for me so far.
i have trouble understanding why people mock scholarship.
if i mention it frequently, it is precisely b/c as a witness, i had no access to it.
when i was told someone by a brother, there was no way to evaluate it.
BOTR, are you referring to the mocking of scholarship in general or on this site? I'm not going to go back and do a count, but my impression is that there are 3 kinds of scholarship-mocking here:
1. Dubs who have real or false credentials and come here to mock the less educated.
2. The less educated who mock the "scholarship" of dubs who turn out to have false credentials.
3. Dubs who mock anyone who has academic accomplishments.
Well-known members here who earn academic degrees are invariably hailed with congratulations by the vast majority.
